Young Adult Eco-Thriller

ARBOREALIS

One mile up. One mile down. Two worlds. One truth.

Elara Vane has spent her life inside humanity's last sanctuary: a mile-high Antarctic arcology where rainforests grow behind glass and every system is meant to keep civilization alive.

Then she discovers that the place she thought she understood has an anatomy she was never meant to see.

Arborealis book cover

One Mile High

A self-contained rainforest biome in the Antarctic wilderness.

The Descent

A mile-high waterfall feeding hundreds of habitats through the heart of the Spire.

VEIN

The intelligence woven into the structure's systems, memory, and hidden history.

The World Below

Maintenance corridors, forgotten industry, and a truth buried under the ice.

Elara before the Arborealis Spire
The Story

A living building. A manufactured history.

To Elara, Arborealis has always felt alive.

She can feel its low vibration beneath her hands. She studies the acoustic systems that guide animals through artificial habitats and hears the Spire as a vast, interconnected symphony.

Her father, Caspian Vane, built Arborealis as an ark for humanity. The Antarctic ice supplies water. The winds drive its turbines. Inside, entire ecosystems thrive beneath glass.

But a strange anomaly in the Descent begins pulling Elara toward hidden systems, hidden spaces, and a history that does not match the one she inherited.

Inside the Arco

Engineered like a machine. Experienced like an ecosystem.

The Spire is not one environment. It is hundreds.

The central Canopy is a vertical rainforest filled with residences, streams, habitats, themed communities, and open green levels. Glass lifts move through the vegetation while the Descent falls beside them.

Higher levels become more exclusive. Lower levels become more public. And at ground level, the elegant ecology of the Spire gives way to the sprawling working city of Arborealis.

The lush interior of Arborealis

The Canopy

Rainforest, residences, habitats, themed communities, paths, caverns, streams, and the constant mist of the Descent.

The Crown

The uppermost levels: administration, Vane leadership, security, elite residences, and the institutional brain of the arcology.

The Base

Greenhouses, warehouses, shopping, transit, processing, apartments, technicians, workers, and most of Arborealis' population.

Anatomy of Arborealis

The Spire is built like a living body.

The names used throughout Arborealis are not accidental. The Crown governs. The Canopy breathes. The Descent feeds the biomes. The Veins carry systems through hidden corridors. The Base keeps the city moving. And beneath all of it lies the Belly.

The Crown — Brain

At the summit: Caspian Vane's quarters, administration, operations, security, and executive control.

The Canopy — Lungs

The mile-high rainforest interior, containing habitats, homes, open natural levels, and communities built around the central chasm.

The Descent — Artery

The signature waterfall begins at the top and drops through the Spire, sustaining the artificial biomes.

Conceptual cutaway — not to scale

The Veins — Circulation

Secret maintenance passages carry conduits, pipes, drones, and life-support infrastructure through the arco.

The Base — Hands

The working city: warehouses, greenhouses, transportation, production, housing, and the Grand Mall spread for miles around the Spire.

The Belly — Hidden Organ

Deep below ground: Silt Traps, industrial chambers, buried infrastructure, and systems most residents never know exist.

Hidden machinery beneath Arborealis
Below the Surface

The beautiful system above depends on the machinery below.

The Veins descend into a radically different Arborealis: silent maintenance corridors, cell-like repair drones, sealed stairwells, industrial chambers, and the Silt Traps of the Belly.

The farther Elara travels downward, the less the official story of Arborealis holds together.

Two Worlds, One Structure

Paradise above. Infrastructure below.

Arborealis survives by making nature and technology inseparable. Its central tension is not nature versus machine, but what happens when a beautiful engineered system conceals the human cost of keeping it alive.

Living canopy of Arborealis

The Living City

Mist, waterfalls, gardens, habitats, artificial sunlight, sound barriers, and cultivated ecosystems.

Industrial systems beneath Arborealis

The Hidden Machine

Conduits, mining systems, maintenance corridors, buried AI history, and secrets beneath the Antarctic ice.
